Sustainability

At The Welcombe Hotel, we’re committed to reducing our environmental impact and creating a more sustainable future. From minimising waste and conserving energy to making smarter choices across our day-to-day operations, we’re always looking for ways to improve.

We’ve taken meaningful steps and continue to set clear targets to ensure our sustainability journey is thoughtful, responsible, and ever evolving.

OUR COMMITMENT

Sustainability
On Site

We believe meaningful change begins close to home. That’s why we’ve put thoughtful practices in place across the hotel to guide our sustainability efforts with care and purpose. Here are just a few of the ways we’re working to create a more thoughtful and environmentally responsible stay for our guests.

  • We offer our guests the option to re-use rather than replace towels and bed linen.
  • We bottle all of our still and sparkling water in house for guests in reusable glass bottles.
  • Room directories, brochures and room service menus are available digitally for hotel guests via bedroom TVs and QR codes.
  • All of our brochures and promotional material are available online to save on print and paper.
  • Correspondence with colleagues, guests and suppliers is done electronically where possible.
  • Our 157 acres of surrounding land is carefully maintained to support and encourage local wildlife
  • Ensure sustainable food sources are used throughout the hotel.
  • Encouraging staff energy saving, such as ensuring housekeeping do not leave lights or TVs on in rooms, whilst PC’s and lights are also turned off at the end of each day in offices.
Our Commitment

The Wider
Community

At The Welcombe we committed to acting in a socially responsible manner in respect of our guests, team members and the local and wider communities. Creating a positive environmental and social impact across our Hotel, supply chains and communities to make a meaningful difference.

  • All team members have the opportunity to learn and develop a range of skills as well as attend training courses to support their ongoing development.
  • The Hotel has an Environmental Champion who is responsible for setting local targets and delivering training and communication activities.
  • We focus a significant amount of our activities on addressing guest service improvements and recognising our most loyal guests.
  • Our Health club and Spa team members are available and happy to offer advice and answer general or specific questions on exercise, well-being and skin care.
  • All departments at the Hotel are invested in using sustainable suppliers and making conscious decisions on which suppliers they will use.
  • Support local charities etc. by donating time i.e. team participation in volunteering days.
  • Supporting the surrounding community by employing local people.
Our Commitment

Electric Vehicle
Charging

We’re proud to introduce 10 new electric vehicle (EV) charging points on site, making sustainable travel easier and more accessible for our guests, visitors, and local drivers.

Installed in partnership with PE, the UK’s largest independent energy supplier, this investment forms part of our ongoing commitment to energy efficiency and reducing our carbon footprint.

Each twin-socketed PE Duo charger delivers up to 22kW of charge for two vehicles at a time, offering up to 50 miles of range per hour depending on the model. With simple tap-and-go functionality and compatibility across all EVs, guests can recharge with ease while taking advantage of our on-site restaurants, lounges, and leisure facilities.

Beyond its environmental benefits, the initiative also supports operational efficiency, with charging revenue helping to offset electricity costs and ensuring a more sustainable approach to how we operate day to day.

As more guests embrace electric vehicles and make conscious choices about where they stay, we’re proud to offer facilities that make sustainable journeys easier, more convenient, and more rewarding for everyone.
